Uttarakhand is hosting the 38th edition of the National Games.
The event starts on 28 January.
DEHRADUN: According to Prashant Arya, Additional Chief Executive Officer of National Sports Secretariat, approximately 1,200 special sports volunteers would be deployed for the upcoming 38th National Games. “These volunteers will be provided to Uttarakhand through the National Federation of Sports (NFS) in India. In addition, Uttarakhand will select around 2,300 general volunteers at its own level.
It is important to point out, however that the special sports volunteers will be distinct from the general volunteers. “Both types of volunteers will receive training in behaviour and etiquette, he added.
It may be recalled that Uttarakhand is hosting the 38th edition of the National Games. This event is going to start from January 28. Two types of volunteers will contribute to make all kinds of arrangements. Out of this, the process of recruitment of general volunteers is currently going on. More than 30 thousand people have registered to become volunteers. All of them have been given online training. Online examination has also been taken. Volunteers will be recruited on the basis of its results.
The special sports volunteers will have a background in sports and experiences in national and international competitions. So they will be given sports-related responsibilities. The general volunteers, on the other hand, will handle various logistical arrangements such as parking and assisting guests.
According to Prateek Joshi, who is looking after the work related to volunteers, special sports volunteers will be given an honorarium of one thousand rupees per day. The daily honorarium of a general volunteer has been fixed at five hundred rupees.
