Dehradun. A case has come to light of a hidden camera being allegedly installed in the ladies washroom of a popular Anandam restaurant in Dehradun. On Thursday evening, after eating in the restaurant, some women who went to the washroom noticed the hidden camera and a ruckus broke out. As soon as the matter was revealed, the women and people sitting in the restaurant protested against it vehemently. The ruckus continued for a long time in the restaurant.
The police also reached the spot and the camera was seized. Seeing the seriousness of the incident, SSP Ajay Singh directed to take immediate action to investigate the matter. After this, the police detained Vinod, a resident of Jharkhand, an employee of the restaurant, who is suspected of installing the camera.
Initial investigation revealed that this camera was installed behind a broken tile in the washroom. From which it is clear that it was deliberately hidden. The police is now trying to find out how many and what kind of recordings have been made from this camera. Has it been used at any other place as well.
SSP Ajay Singh made it clear that no laxity will be tolerated in this case and strict action will be taken against the culprits. Police have registered a case against the restaurant employee and the owner. Along with this, the role of the restaurant owner is also being investigated whether he was involved in this incident or it was just the act of the employee.
USCW strictly keeping an eye on the whole matter
The Chairperson of Uttarakhand State Commission for Women Kusum Kandwal immediately reached and talked to the SO of the concerned police station area.
She said that such an incident in a prestigious establishment of the city is very sensitive. The commission is also keeping an eye on the matter so that the matter is investigated strictly. She talked to the owner of the establishment and SO Cantt at the spot and instructed that strict action should be taken against the accused in this case.
While giving instructions to the SO in this case, she said that the accused’s phone and his social media should be seriously and thoroughly investigated so that it can be known since when the accused was carrying out this incident in this manner. Has the accused made the video of any woman viral earlier also?
Giving information in this case, the SO said that videos were being made by hiding the mobile in the bathroom and video recording footage was also recovered from the mobile during investigation. In this regard, a case has been registered against the accused Vinod, resident of Jharkhand and he has been taken into custody. The police has also seized the recording mobile hidden in the bathroom of the restaurant.
The Chairperson of USCW also gave a message to all the businessmen and owners of hotels, restaurants and malls and said that it is the duty of all of you to check the washrooms or changing rooms of your establishments from time to time and ensure that such incidents do not occur.
The chairperson appealed to the women and said that whenever they use the public washrooms and changing rooms as per the need, they should do so with caution and check the surroundings to see if there is any hidden camera installed. If any camera is found, inform the police immediately.
