CM’s Strictness Effect: 307 roads opened in four days

Status report sought from Secretary Disaster Management by 25 September.

The strict instructions given by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami to open the blocked roads in various districts of the state had a wide impact. 307 blocked roads were opened in just four days. At present, 174 roads are still closed in various districts of the state. The Chief Minister has also given instructions to open these roads as soon as possible. Along with this, he has directed the Secretary Disaster Management to provide a detailed status report on the action taken to open the blocked roads by September 25 and the reasons why the remaining closed roads could not be opened.

The Chief Minister had already instructed all the District Magistrates, in this regard, to hold a meeting with all the concerned departments on September 19 and formulate an effective strategy to open the closed roads. He has said that whatever kind of cooperation the concerned departments need to open the roads, the District Magistrate should provide it and ensure the opening of the roads as soon as possible.

It may be recalled that due to heavy rains in the past few days, a large number of roads were blocked in different districts of the state, due to which people were facing a lot of difficulties in movement. Due to the blockage of most of the rural roads, the connectivity of rural areas with other areas was cut off. In view of the problems of the general public, CM Dhami directed the Secretary Disaster Management to formulate a comprehensive strategy to get the road smooth as soon as possible.

In this context, Chief Minister Dhami  strictly warned that no laxity will be tolerated in opening the roads. He also ordered the top officers to take strict action any officer who negligence in this regard.

In compliance with the strict orders of CM, 307 roads were opened in four days and traffic was made smooth. On September 14, while 481 roads of Public Works Department, NH, PMGSY were closed in various districts of the state, 174 roads were closed on September 18. Thus, 307 blocked roads have been opened in four days only.

The Chief Minister instructed to open the roads which have not been opened yet, as soon as possible and to send a detailed report of the roads which may take more time to open, to the Disaster Management Secretary.
