DM orders repair of 400 streetlights per day

We cannot keep the public in the dark: DM

Target given to repair 400 lights per day. DM will monitor 400 backlogs every week.

Daily progress report is being made available to DM.

City divided into four zones for street light repair, 4 nodal officers nominated.

Night patrolling team will visit the area and check the condition of street lights.

District Magistrate/Administrator Savin Bansal held a review meeting on Wednesday, 16 October regarding  the streetlight repair works under the jurisdiction of Municipal Corporation Dehradun,

It may be recalled that, the DM, who is at present the Administrator of Nagar Nigam also as there is currently no elected Municipal Board in place, had directed to run a campaign to repair the lights.

On the instructions of the DM, 1500 new lights were purchased in a single day. The District Magistrate instructed strictly to the EESL officials to immediately make available the 2800 lights that had gone for repair and to make the faulty lights available within 48 hours.

The District Magistrate has given the teams the target of repairing 400 streetlights per day. The District Magistrate himself will monitor the street light repair works every week. The DM divided the city into 04 zones and nominated nodal officers for each zone.

District Magistrate, Savin Bansal directed that the presence of the Sector Officer should also be recorded along with the teams while leaving the Municipal Corporation premises every day to repair the lights for the wards. The District Magistrate has also directed to send night patrolling teams to check whether the lights are on or not.

The District Magistrate also directed that the company should repair and provide at least 300 lights every day, further work will be considered on the basis of the company’s performance.

It was reminded during the meeting that according to the survey, about 4,000 lights are faulty, out of which complaints have been received for 1,000. The District Magistrate directed the Nagar Nigam to  get the lights repaired by running a campaign on war footing, and also said that there will be no shortage of lights and equipment.

Along with this, the District Magistrate directed that about 400 faulty lights will be replaced every day by the repair teams, the company was directed to repair the faulty lights within 48 hours and make them available to the Municipal Corporation.

Chief Municipal Commissioner Municipal Corporation Gaurav Kumar, Additional Municipal Commissioner Bir Singh Budiyal, UCN Gaurav Bhasin, along with RM of EESL were present in the meeting.
