DEHRADUN: On the occasion of Uttarakhand State Foundation Day, Governor Lt Gen Gurmeet Singh (Retd) and Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami participated in the main program organized at Police Line, Dehradun on Saturday, 9 November. On this occasion, the Governor inspected the parade and took the salute. The Governor also honored the police officers who received the ‘President’s Police Medal’ and ‘Police Medal’ for distinguished services.
On this occasion, Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated and wished all the people of the state through his video message. On this occasion, the Governor and the Chief Minister released the magazines of the Department of Information and Public Relations “Sankalp Sustainable Development” and “Uttarakhand Police Magazine-2024”. A special adventure performance was performed by the Police Department in the program. In this, the excellent performance of the dog squad especially thrilled the audience present.
In the State Foundation Day program, this year’s Uttarakhand Gaurav Samman was given to Chief of Defense Staff of India General Anil Chauhan, folk singer Pritam Bhartwan, social reformer and spiritual guru Mata Mangala, actor Hemant Pandey and senior doctor Dr. Mahesh Kudiyal. Governor Lieutenant General Gurmeet Singh (Retd) and Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami honored the dignitaries of Uttarakhand Gaurav Samman Award-2024.
Governor Lt Gen Gurmeet Singh (Retd) while congratulating and wishing on the occasion of Uttarakhand State Foundation Day, paid tribute to all the known and unknown immortal martyrs and agitators associated with the Uttarakhand State Movement.
The Governor said that on the State Foundation Day, we all must take a resolution. We should try to keep our youth away from all kinds of intoxication and drug habits. For this, Uttarakhand Police will have to take initiative in collaboration with all sections of the society. He said that everyone should contribute in the creation of Drug Free Uttarakhand, so that our coming generation can get a safe environment for a bright future.
In his address, the Governor said that Uttarakhand is one of the leading states of the country in many parameters of development today. In our state, a huge change is taking place in every area related to roads, electricity, water, health, education, financial inclusion, social security. With the collective efforts of all, our state is continuously moving on the path of progress, but still a lot remains to be done, for which the collective contribution of all of us is necessary.
Regarding the nine requests made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the occasion of State Foundation Day, the Governor said that the nine requests made by the Prime Minister to us are like nine resolutions for us and we will ensure 100 percent compliance of these resolutions.
The Governor said that the mantra of progress of our state is included in agriculture, horticulture, aromatic farming, honey production, home stay, tourism, yoga and wellness sector. By doing good work in these areas, we can bring prosperity along with employment in our villages. It is our duty to make the villages which are called ghost villages today due to migration, host villages.
He said that due to the inaccessible geographical location of Uttarakhand, it is very important to increase technology, artificial intelligence, internet services to provide public facilities to the people here. He said that effective steps are necessary to take lessons from the road accident that happened in Almora recently.
The Governor said that the Home Stay Scheme in Uttarakhand is bringing a new revolution in the tourism business of the state. This scheme is not only creating new opportunities for self-employment in rural areas, but it is also strengthening the rural economy. The Vibrant Village Scheme running in 51 villages for the all-round development of border villages is playing an important role in fulfilling the goal of reverse migration.
The Governor said that today we are celebrating the achievements of our 24 years after the establishment of the state. We have to make our best contribution with full enthusiasm, energy and capability to make Uttarakhand the best state of the country with new resolutions.
On this occasion, former Chief Minister Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’, Cabinet Minister Ganesh Joshi, Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat, MP Mala Rajyalakshmi Shah, Rajya Sabha MP Mahendra Bhatt, District Panchayat President Madhu Chauhan, MLA Banshidhar Bhagat, MLA Khajan Das, Chief Secretary Radha Raturi, DGP Abhinav Kumar along with senior officers of the government, police and district administration and other people were present.
