DEHRADUN: Secretary, State Election Commission Uttarakhand, Rahul Kumar Goyal has given instructions to ban the campaigning and organizing public meetings from 5 pm on 21 January 2025, 48 hours before the last time fixed for voting for the general election of the urban local body. He has instructed all the District Magistrates and Observers through a letter that in the polling to be held on January 23, 2025, the election campaign and public meeting etc. will not be organized by the candidate after 05:00 pm on January 21, 2025.
The Secretary said that any advertisement already being broadcast in print or electronic media can be broadcast, in which compliance of the Model Code of Conduct has been ensured, but it should not contain any election related matter which may be construed to influence the results of the election or to encourage / adversely affect the prospects of the candidates or any particular party. An advertisement appealing voters to vote can be given in print media, ensuring compliance with the above points. No election related interview, meeting, debate etc. by any candidate, political party or any other person will be broadcast in electronic media.
