NABARD U’khand celebrates International Women’s Day. Ritu Khanduri Bhushan attends as Chief Guest

DEHRADUN: International Women’s Day 2025 was organized on 5 March by the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), Uttarakhand Regional Office, Dehradun. Ritu Khanduri Bhushan, Speaker, Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly was present as the chief guest in the program.

Speaker of the Legislative Assembly Ritu Khanduri Bhushan recalled about her background and said that in the past, women have dominated in her family, due to which she also got inspiration and the support received from the women of her family has contributed significantly to her current achievements. After she assumed office, the condition of women in her assembly constituency has improved a lot and the number of women on important posts is large and women are also developing in Uttarakhand with time.

Khanduri said that women cannot develop holistically without ensuring their economic development and NABARD has played an important role in this area. She said that in future also NABARD should keep working continuously in the interest of women and ensure their holistic development through various schemes. 

In the program, the Assembly Speaker honored women who have achieved various achievements in the field of women empowerment and have emerged as a source of inspiration for other women. She also inaugurated the exhibition of products of women self-help groups and producer organizations financed by NABARD. She interacted with the women and got information about the products and encouraged them. 

Chief General Manager NABARD Pankaj Yadav said that the concept of self-help group by NABARD in 1992 was a historic step in the field of women development. At present, about 1.44 crore self-help groups are active, with which about 18 crore families are connected. NABARD is continuously contributing to the empowerment of women through its various training and capacity building programmes, financial inclusion, tribal development projects and is committed to make them socially and economically self-reliant.

The programme was concluded with a vote of thanks by Nirmal Kumar, Deputy General Manager, NABARD.
