Dehradun, June 27 — In line with Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami’s vision of “Swasth Rahe Pratyek Jan” (Everyone Should Be Healthy), District Magistrate Savin Bansal has taken a firm stand to improve healthcare delivery in the district. Acting on persistent complaints regarding government hospitals operated under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, the DM has signaled strict and uncompromising action.
Clear Directives to Health Officials
DM Bansal has issued strong instructions to the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Additional Chief Medical Officer (ACMO), and all Medical Officers In-Charge (MOICs) to ensure immediate and tangible improvements in government healthcare services. He made it clear that any form of negligence or laxity in healthcare delivery will not be tolerated.
Surprise Inspections Ordered
To ensure accountability, the DM has directed the Chief Development Officer (CDO) and the Collectorate’s nodal officer to conduct surprise inspections of all PPP-operated Primary Health Centres (PHCs) across the district. Officials have been instructed to thoroughly assess existing facilities and submit detailed reports. If serious lapses or violations of contractual obligations are found, the concerned contracts may be cancelled.
Complaints Highlight Major Deficiencies
The District Magistrate’s office has received numerous complaints, pointing to critical deficiencies in these facilities, including:
Shortage of medical staff, lab technicians, and nurses
Non-availability of prescribed medicines; patients being directed to purchase medicines from outside
Inadequate pathology and diagnostic services despite being shown on paper
PHCs operating in spaces not meeting prescribed standards
Substandard cleanliness and sanitation
PPP Hospitals Under Scanner
Several PHCs in Dehradun district are being run under the PPP model, including those located in:
Jakhan, Reethmandi, Kargi, Majra, Gandhigram, Seemadwar, Adhiwala, Chuna Bhatta, Bakarwala, BS Colony, Deepnagar, and Khudbuda.
Public Welfare Is the Priority
DM Bansal emphasized that the quality of public services must be treated with utmost priority. “Officials must act swiftly, effectively, and with sensitivity towards public grievances,” he said, underlining that accountability and service delivery cannot be compromised.
