DEHRADUN: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami shared on his social media account that the “Uttarakhand Minority Education Bill – 2025” has been passed in the State Assembly.
CM Dhami stated that until now, the recognition of minority institutions was limited only to the Muslim community. For years, the madrasa education system had been facing serious issues such as irregularities in the distribution of central scholarships, discrepancies in the mid-day meal scheme, and a lack of transparency in management.
With the implementation of this bill, the Madrasa Education Board Act and the Non-Government Arabic and Persian Madrasa Recognition Rules will stand repealed from July 1, 2026. Furthermore, educational institutions belonging to the Sikh, Jain, Christian, Buddhist, and Parsi communities will also be granted transparent recognition.
The Chief Minister said that this step will not only strengthen the quality of education but will also ensure the protection of students’ interests. In addition, the government will now have the authority to effectively monitor the functioning of minority educational institutions and issue necessary directions.
CM Dhami expressed confidence that this bill will give a new direction to education while also enhancing academic excellence and social harmony in the state.
