CM Dhami Honors Meritorious Students, Highlights Transparent Recruitment & Strict Action Against Cheating Mafia
Dehradun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Thursday honored 75 high school and intermediate students who secured top positions in the board examinations at the Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Educational Excellence Awards held at the SCERT Auditorium, Nanurkheda. Principals of the top-performing schools were also felicitated for their contribution to academic excellence.
Addressing the gathering, CM Dhami described Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay as a multifaceted personality who believed education should go beyond textbooks to include patriotism, values, and social harmony. He said the state government, in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision under the National Education Policy 2020, is working towards modern, practical, and value-based education.
The CM highlighted initiatives such as smart classrooms, digital libraries, virtual classes in 1,300 schools, and five PM e-Vidya channels for remote learning. Free textbooks are being provided to all students from Classes 1 to 12, while monthly scholarships and cultural exposure tours across India are arranged for meritorious students.
He also mentioned that 226 schools in Uttarakhand are being developed as PM Shri Vidyalayas, and the book “Hamari Virasat” is being introduced to students from Classes 6 to 8 to connect them with India’s heritage and folk traditions.
Transparent Recruitment & Anti-Cheating Measures
CM Dhami underlined that in the last four years, over 25,000 youth have secured government jobs in a fully transparent manner—compared to just 16,000 in the first 21 years of the state’s formation. He said strict anti-cheating laws have led to the arrest of more than 100 cheating mafias.
“Some people are unhappy with the transparency in recruitment and are conspiring to leak exam papers to create chaos. Recently, an attempt was made, but the government will not let such efforts succeed,” Dhami said.
He announced that a Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been constituted to probe recent exam irregularities. “Every cheating mafia will be arrested and punished. Our priority remains timely and transparent recruitment without injustice to any youth,” the CM asserted.
Support for Aspirants & New Minority Education Law
The Chief Minister also informed that the government is providing ₹50,000 financial assistance to candidates clearing written exams of UPSC, NDA, CDS, and other national-level recruitments for interview preparation.
Additionally, Dhami announced the implementation of a new Minority Education Act, under which, from July 1, 2026, only those madrasas following the state-prescribed curriculum will be allowed to operate. Religious teachers without educational qualifications will be removed to safeguard the academic future of students.
Improved Board Results
On this occasion, Education Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat shared that the number of students achieving first division in board exams has increased by 18 percent this year. He added that mark improvement exams are now being conducted, reducing pressure on students.
Education Secretary Ravinath Raman, DG Education Deepti Singh, and other senior officials were also present.
