Dehradun: Schools and Anganwadi Centres to Remain Closed on April 27 Due to Severe Heatwave
Dehradun: According to the latest update from the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Dehradun, the district is currently experiencing extremely high temperatures and heatwave conditions. The department has issued a warning that April 27, 2026, is also likely to witness intense heat and very hot weather.
Considering the situation and prioritizing disaster risk reduction as well as the safety and health of children, the district administration has taken an important decision. All educational institutions from Classes 1 to 12, along with Anganwadi centres across the district, will remain closed for one day on Monday, April 27, 2026.

As per the order, all government, non-government, and private schools, as well as all Anganwadi centres in Dehradun district, will remain completely shut on the specified date.
The Chief Education Officer, Dehradun, and the District Programme Officer have been directed to ensure strict compliance with the order across all institutions.
The administration has also appealed to the public to take necessary precautions during the extreme heat and avoid unnecessary exposure to the sun.
