BJP reinstates Mahendra Bhatt as Uttarakhand chief, eyes 2027 hat-trick

DEHRADUN: The Bharatiya Janata Party on Tuesday officially reinstated Mahendra Bhatt as its Uttarakhand State president during the party’s council meeting in Dehradun. Bhatt was elected unopposed, with Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and senior leaders endorsing his continuation.

Bhatt, addressing party workers, outlined immediate priorities — winning the upcoming Panchayat elections by ensuring active BJP workers contest across all Gram Panchayats. Looking ahead, he termed the 2027 Vidhan Sabha elections the party’s biggest challenge, setting an ambitious target of winning over 60 seats to secure a third consecutive term.

Highlighting past successes under his leadership, including victories in Lok Sabha, municipal, Haridwar Panchayat and Assembly polls, Bhatt credited grassroots workers, public representatives and central leadership for the party’s strong record. He emphasized strengthening the organisation to deepen BJP’s reach in every area.

CM Dhami congratulated Bhatt, calling him a grounded, dedicated leader who has consistently boosted worker morale. He cited both his and Bhatt’s rise from ordinary workers as examples of the BJP’s culture of empowering the committed.

Both leaders urged party workers to treat the upcoming Panchayat polls as the launch pad for securing a full majority again in 2027.
