DEHRADUN: Narinder Singh Bindra, Chairman of the Shri Hemkunt Sahib Management Trust, met with Samir Sinha, the newly appointed Head of Forest Force (HoFF) of Uttarakhand, and extended his congratulations on Sinha’s prestigious appointment.
The meeting focused on pressing issues related to the conservation of the Valley of Flowers, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its rare Himalayan flora, and the efficient management of Shri Hemkunt Sahib, a revered Sikh pilgrimage destination situated at an altitude of approximately 4,632 metres in Chamoli district.
Samir Sinha, in his previous roles, has played a key part in enhancing tourism and pilgrimage experiences in the region. His notable contribution includes the establishment of the Eco-Development Committee (EDC) in Bhyundar Valley, which empowered local communities and promoted sustainable environmental practices.
During the discussion, Bindra and Sinha explored strategies to manage the growing influx of pilgrims and tourists while minimising ecological impact. Key topics included development of alternative routes, eco-friendly infrastructure, and the adoption of sustainable practices to protect the fragile ecosystem and spiritual sanctity of the region.
The meeting underscored the shared commitment of the Forest Department and the Trust to work in close coordination for the long-term preservation and sustainable development of both the Valley of Flowers and Shri Hemkunt Sahib.
