New Delhi: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami paid a courtesy visit to Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi on Tuesday. During the meeting, the Chief Minister held a comprehensive discussion on several critical issues concerning the state’s development and strategic priorities.
Highlighting the growing challenges in the domain of cyber security, Chief Minister Dhami sought central assistance of ₹63.60 crore for the establishment of a “Cyber Centre of Excellence” in Dehradun. He stated that the proposed centre would serve as a pivotal institution for the prevention of cyber crimes, advancement of cyber forensics, expert training, and development of cutting-edge digital infrastructure.
Addressing the recurring damage to the state’s power infrastructure caused by natural disasters, the Chief Minister urged that assets related to power generation, transmission, and distribution be included under the ambit of compensation provided through NDRF and SDRF. He emphasized that Uttarakhand’s status as a geologically sensitive Himalayan state warrants special consideration and tailored support in disaster management.
The expansion of Sitarganj Central Jail was also discussed, with the Chief Minister requesting approval for a proposal worth ₹150.16 crore to meet the growing infrastructural and security needs.
Further, referring to the success of the Uttarakhand Global Investors Summit 2023, the Chief Minister informed that the state had signed investment MoUs exceeding ₹3.50 lakh crore. To maintain this momentum, he announced plans to organize the ‘Uttarakhand Investment Festival’ in the Pantnagar-Rudrapur industrial belt and extended an invitation to the Union Home Minister to grace the event as the chief guest.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah assured the Chief Minister of positive consideration and appropriate action on all the proposals presented. The Chief Minister reiterated Uttarakhand’s unwavering commitment to contributing to the vision of a ‘New India’ under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and expressed confidence that, with continued support from the Centre, the state would continue to achieve new milestones in development.
