Royal Delicious to be procured at ₹51 per kg, Red Delicious and other varieties at ₹45 per kg
Dehradun/Uttarkashi – In a major relief for apple growers of the disaster-affected Dharali village and adjoining areas of Uttarkashi district, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has announced government procurement of apples through the Horticulture Department.
As per the announcement, Royal Delicious apples will be purchased at ₹51 per kg, while Red Delicious and other apple varieties (excluding Grade-C apples) will be procured at ₹45 per kg. The Chief Minister has directed that the funds required for this special arrangement will be provided from the Chief Minister’s Announcement Fund.
To ensure immediate implementation, the Chief Minister’s Office has issued a circular to the Secretary, Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department, directing financial and administrative approval without delay. The department has also been instructed to report back to the Chief Minister with the actual status of compliance on the ground.
CM Dhami emphasized that this initiative aims to provide direct economic support to apple growers whose livelihoods have been severely impacted by recent disasters. The move is expected to help stabilize apple prices in the local market and ensure that farmers receive fair compensation for their produce.
