Provides ₹5 Lakh Aid to Victims’ Families

Chamoli. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Saturday visited the disaster-affected areas of Chamoli district to take stock of the situation and extend support to the affected families. The Chief Minister expressed deep grief over the loss of lives and property, assuring that the government stands firmly with the people during this difficult time.

During his visit to the Nandanagar region, CM Dhami personally met disaster-affected families, reviewed ongoing relief measures, and instructed officials to leave no stone unturned in providing timely assistance. He also handed over cheques of ₹5 lakh each to the families of those who lost their lives in the calamity.

The Chief Minister conducted a field inspection of the villages Kuntari Laga Phali and Kuntari Laga Sarpani, and carried out an aerial survey of Dhurma, Mokh, Kundi, Bansbara, and Mokhmalla villages to assess the extent of damage and monitor relief operations. He emphasized that relief and rescue efforts must continue on a war footing to ensure that normal life is restored at the earliest.

Strict Instructions to Officials

CM Dhami directed district officials to:

👉🏻 Complete damage assessment reports promptly.

👉🏻 Ensure restoration of electricity, drinking water supply, and road connectivity on priority.

👉🏻 Work with full capacity and urgency to re-establish basic amenities for the affected population.

District Administration’s Report

District Magistrate Chamoli Sandeep Tiwari briefed the Chief Minister about the situation. He informed that:

12 injured persons have been airlifted to higher medical centers—1 to AIIMS Rishikesh and 11 to Medical College Srinagar.

Around 45 houses and 15 cattle sheds have been completely damaged in villages including Kuntri Laga Phali, Sarpani, Dhurma, Sera, and Mokh.

At least 8 animals have died and 40 animals are reported missing.

Relief camps are operational, providing food, shelter, healthcare, and other basic facilities to the affected.

Detailed surveys of damage and loss are underway.

Leaders Present

The Chief Minister was accompanied by District In-charge Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat, Tharali MLA Bhupal Ram Tamta, District Panchayat President Daulat Singh Bisht, BJP District President Gajpal Bartwal, Superintendent of Police Sarvesh Panwar, SDM Chamoli R.K. Pandey, and other senior officials and personnel.

CM Dhami reiterated the government’s commitment, saying that every possible assistance will be extended to bring relief to the disaster-affected families and ensure swift rehabilitation.
