Issues Directions to Accelerate Relief and Rehabilitation Efforts
Pauri — Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Thursday visited the disaster-affected village of Sainji in Pauri district to assess the ground situation and oversee the ongoing relief operations. The Chief Minister interacted with the affected residents, inquired about their well-being, and assured them of full support from the state government.
During his visit, the Chief Minister walked through damaged roads to reach the homes of affected families and took firsthand stock of the destruction caused by heavy rains. Earlier in the day, he conducted an aerial survey of several disaster-hit areas, including Bankura in Thalisain tehsil.
At Buransi in Nautha, CM Dhami met with both disaster-affected and other local villagers, where he handed over relief cheques to five affected families. Many villagers expressed their gratitude for the swift response by the administration.
Addressing the affected families, the Chief Minister said, “No one is alone in this hour of crisis. The entire state stands with you.” He instructed the District Magistrate to expedite rehabilitation and resettlement efforts, ensuring that the displaced are moved to safer locations promptly. He emphasized the need for immediate assessment of damage and provision of essential services—such as electricity, clean drinking water, sanitation facilities, medicines, and food—in all relief centers.
CM Dhami also directed that a technical survey be conducted through the Wadia Institute to assess the impact of the disaster and suggest preventive measures.
In terms of healthcare response, the Chief Minister ordered the deployment of mobile medical units in the affected villages to provide timely medical care, particularly for the elderly, pregnant women, children, and others in need. He stressed the continuous availability of essential medicines, first-aid kits, and medical personnel in all impacted regions.
Cabinet Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat, who accompanied the Chief Minister, expressed gratitude for the quick response and suggested the formation of a dedicated committee for rehabilitation. He emphasized that special attention should be given to families who have lost their homes or shops.
The District Administration informed the Chief Minister that a comprehensive list of affected families has been prepared and relief distribution—including essential supplies and financial aid—is underway. The District Magistrate assured that administrative teams are reaching every village and no affected individual will be left out of the relief efforts.
