Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami Attends Dussehra Festival and Ravana Dahan at Parade Ground.
Dehradun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami participated in the grand Dussehra Festival and Ravana Dahan held at the Parade Ground on the occasion of Vijayadashami. Extending his greetings, the Chief Minister wished the people of Uttarakhand a happy Vijayadashami and prayed to Lord Ram to bless every citizen with good health, prosperity, happiness, and a bright future.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that Dussehra is not only an integral part of India’s cultural and spiritual heritage but also a reminder of the eternal triumph of truth over falsehood and righteousness over arrogance. He emphasized that Ravana, despite having unmatched power, a golden Lanka, and a mighty army, was defeated due to his arrogance and unrighteousness. “The flames of arrogance always consume the one who harbors it,” he added.
The Chief Minister urged that the festival should inspire people not just to burn effigies of Ravana but also to resolve to conquer their inner evils and follow the path of truth, morality, and humanity. He said that Lord Ram’s exemplary life continues to guide humanity even today, teaching us to uphold values, promises, and principles despite adversities.
Highlighting the relevance of Vijayadashami in the present day, the Chief Minister noted that while the times have changed, “many Ravanas still exist in different forms in society” that need to be defeated collectively through unity, morality, and social responsibility.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister also welcomed the positive GST-related decisions announced by the Central Government, describing them as a “festive gift” ahead of Diwali. He said these measures will bring relief to traders and consumers alike while strengthening the economy. Expressing gratitude on behalf of the people of Uttarakhand, he thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for such timely and impactful initiatives.
Reiterating Prime Minister Modi’s vision of a self-reliant India, the Chief Minister called upon Uttarakhand residents to contribute wholeheartedly towards making this resolve a reality. He reminded that the Prime Minister had declared from Kedarnath Dham that the third decade of the 21st century would be the decade of Uttarakhand, and said the responsibility of fulfilling this pledge lies not only with the government but with every citizen of the state.
He further emphasized that Uttarakhand has vast potential in education, tourism, industry, agriculture, and self-employment, and with people’s active participation in every sector, the state can soon become a leading model in the country. “Our collective effort will ensure that Uttarakhand plays a pivotal role in building a self-reliant India,” he said.
The Chief Minister added that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India is achieving unprecedented progress in every field. Public welfare schemes and economic reforms are consistently improving the lives of citizens, and the combined efforts of the Central and State governments will continue to bring prosperity to the people of Uttarakhand.
He concluded by urging citizens to adopt the values of truth, honesty, and duty in their lives, inspired by the ideals of Lord Ram, and help build a just, strong, and prosperous society. “Together, we will make Uttarakhand the leading state of the nation and a model for the entire world,” he asserted.
Cabinet Minister Ganesh Joshi, MLAs Khajan Das and Savita Kapoor, along with several public representatives and a large gathering of local people, were present on this occasion.
