Dehradun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami attended a special staging of the play ‘Hind Di Chadar’, organized to commemorate the 350th martyrdom year of Guru Teg Bahadur. The event was held on Sunday at Doon Medical College, Patel Nagar, and jointly organized by the Uttarakhand Sikh Coordination Committee and Shri Guru Teg Bahadur Charitable Hospital.
During the program, the Chief Minister paid heartfelt tribute to Guru Teg Bahadur, describing his supreme sacrifice as a timeless symbol of religious protection and humanitarian values. “At a time when the country’s culture, faith, and dignity were under threat, Guru Teg Bahadur laid down his life to uphold righteousness and freedom. His sacrifice will continue to inspire future generations,” he said.
Highlighting Guru Ji’s legacy, the Chief Minister stated, “Guru Teg Bahadur is revered as ‘Hind Di Chadar’ because he made the ultimate sacrifice for the protection of religious freedom, national unity, and social harmony. His courage and ideals remain profoundly relevant today.”
CM Dhami also acknowledged the significant steps taken under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership in support of the Sikh community. These include the opening of the Kartarpur Corridor, granting FCRA registration to Harmandir Sahib, declaration of Veer Bal Diwas, justice initiatives for the 1984 riot victims, and the development of the Hemkund Sahib ropeway project.
He further informed that the Uttarakhand government has directed that Guru Teg Bahadur Ji’s 350th martyrdom anniversary be celebrated across the state with grandeur. He shared updates on the 12.5 km long ropeway being constructed from Govind Ghat to Hemkund Sahib, which will significantly ease the journey for devotees—reducing travel time to just 45 minutes.
Concluding the event, the Chief Minister expressed his gratitude to the organizers and artists, calling the play a meaningful initiative to connect today’s youth with India’s glorious spiritual and cultural heritage. “This is not just a cultural performance, but a living source of inspiration,” he remarked.
The event was graced by Delhi Cabinet Minister Sardar Manjinder Singh Sirsa, MLA Vinod Chamoli, Gurudev Singh, along with members of the organizing committee and the performing artists.
