CM Pushkar Singh Dhami Reviews ‘Gaudan’ Film in Dehradun, Calls It a Powerful Message for Cow Protection and Cultural Values
Dehradun:
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Wednesday reviewed the cow-protection-based film ‘Gaudan’ at Centrio Mall, Hathibarkala, Dehradun. Praising the theme of the film, the Chief Minister described it as a meaningful and inspiring effort rooted in Indian culture, rural life, and the tradition of cow protection.
The Chief Minister said that in Indian culture, the cow holds a special and revered place. It is not merely a symbol of faith, but also a pillar of the rural economy, organic farming, nutrition, environmental conservation, and self-reliance. Films like ‘Gaudan’, he said, play an important role in creating awareness about cow protection and in connecting the younger generation with their cultural roots.
The Chief Minister informed that the Uttarakhand government has declared the film ‘Gaudan’ tax-free in the state so that a larger audience can watch the film and understand the importance of cow conservation. He said that encouraging films that convey positive social messages reflects the government’s commitment to promoting value-based cinema.
CM Dhami stated that the state government is continuously working towards the protection and promotion of cattle welfare. Several schemes are being implemented to strengthen gaushalas, protect stray cattle, support livestock farmers, and promote dairy production. The government’s objective is to strengthen the cow-based rural economy and promote self-employment and self-reliance in rural areas.
Extending his best wishes to the film’s producer Vinod Kumar Chaudhary and the entire team, the Chief Minister said that Uttarakhand has always been a land of rich traditions in art, literature, and culture. The state government is committed to developing Uttarakhand as a major hub for film production.
The Chief Minister further highlighted that an effective film policy has been implemented in the state, under which filmmakers are being provided attractive subsidies, single-window clearances, simplified shooting permissions, and incentives for local artists and technicians. He noted that the positive outcomes of the new film policy are already visible, with a significant increase in film shooting activities across the state.
CM Dhami said that Uttarakhand’s natural beauty, spiritual environment, mountain culture, and diverse locations make it an ideal destination for film shoots. The government aims to attract more film projects to the state, which will generate employment opportunities for local youth and provide a boost to tourism.
The Chief Minister also mentioned that the Film Development Council has been strengthened and continuous efforts are being made to develop film studios and related infrastructure in the state. Expressing hope, he said that inspiring films like ‘Gaudan’ will spread positive messages in society, enhance public awareness about cow protection, and help project Uttarakhand’s rich cultural heritage at the national and international levels.
On the occasion, Cabinet Ministers Satpal Maharaj, Ganesh Joshi, Rekha Arya, along with other public representatives and a large number of viewers, were present.
