CM Dhami Seeks Centre’s Support for Uttarakhand’s Sports Developmen

New Delhi. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Thursday met Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya in New Delhi. During the meeting, he discussed the comprehensive development of sports in the state, the establishment of world-class sports infrastructure, and providing advanced training and facilities to athletes, while seeking support from the Central Government.

Expressing gratitude on behalf of the people of Uttarakhand for the support extended by the Centre in the successful conduct of the 38th National Games, the Chief Minister said that the grand event has given the state a new identity. He added that Uttarakhand has taken a significant step towards presenting itself as a true “land of sports.”

The Chief Minister urged approval of several key proposals, including:

# Establishment of a high-level sports facility at Dinapani in Almora district,

# Operationalization of the Ice Skating Rink at Maharana Pratap Sports College, Dehradun,

# Upgradation of the Adventure Training Centre in Tehri,

# Setting up of Indoor Artificial Rock Climbing facilities at the Women’s Sports College in Champawat,

# And construction of multi-purpose sports halls in 95 development blocks across the state.

He further informed the Union Minister that Uttarakhand has established its first Sports University, which will not only provide training to athletes but also offer academic courses related to sports. The Chief Minister requested necessary support and financial assistance from the Centre to develop the university as a premier sports institution.

Union Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya assured the Chief Minister of all possible support.
