Dehradun – In light of the ongoing heavy rainfall across Uttarakhand, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has directed all District Magistrates (DMs) to remain on the ground with their full teams to effectively manage the situation. The directives were issued during a virtual meeting held today.
Emphasizing the importance of swift response, the Chief Minister instructed officials to ensure the immediate restoration of roads blocked due to landslides or waterlogging. He also asked for prompt repairs to damaged drinking water pipelines and electricity lines, along with ensuring alternative transport routes in case rural connectivity is disrupted.
“All departments must be fully prepared to handle waterlogging. Rapid assessment of crop damage due to rainfall must be carried out,” said Dhami.
Strong Action on Fraudulent Documents and Encroachments
CM Dhami issued strict orders for legal action against individuals found to have acquired ration cards, Aadhaar cards, voter IDs, Ayushman cards, or any other government documents through fraudulent means. He also asked for punitive measures against those aiding in such activities. Regular anti-encroachment drives across all districts were also instructed.
Under the ongoing campaign ‘Operation Kalanemi’, the Chief Minister reiterated the need for consistent action against individuals or groups misleading people in the name of religion or faith.
Surprise Inspections of Government Hospitals
The Chief Minister directed DMs to regularly inspect government hospitals in their districts. These inspections should focus on availability of medicines, staff presence, equipment functionality, and overall cleanliness. He stated that he himself would also conduct surprise visits to monitor health infrastructure.
Focus on Post-Rain Infrastructure and Flagship Schemes
Dhami stressed the need to fast-track infrastructure development works—such as roads, bridges, and drainage systems—once the rains subside. He emphasized the importance of maintaining quality and meeting deadlines in construction projects. The Chief Minister also called for continuous review and monitoring of central and state flagship schemes to ensure effective implementation.
Promotion of Local Products and Self-Reliance
Reinforcing the vision of ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ and ‘Vocal for Local’, Dhami said all government offices in the state should prioritize the use of indigenous products. He encouraged public awareness campaigns to promote local goods among the general population.
Appreciation for Successful Panchayat Elections
CM Dhami also expressed gratitude to the State Election Commission, administrative officials, and security forces for ensuring the peaceful and successful conduct of the three-tier Panchayat elections. “This was possible due to the dedication and cooperation of all involved,” he said.
