Chief Minister Dhami Meets Villagers in Bageshwar’s Disaster-Hit Paunsari, Assures Full Support
Bageshwar: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Saturday visited the disaster-affected village of Paunsari to meet residents and inquire about their well-being. He assured the villagers that the state government stands firmly with them during this difficult time and that all possible assistance will be provided.
Later, the Chief Minister interacted with disaster-affected villagers at the Government Higher Secondary School in Baisani, patiently listening to their concerns.
During the visit, CM Dhami received a detailed briefing from District Magistrate Ashish Bhatgain on the ongoing relief and rescue operations. The District Magistrate informed that on August 29, heavy rains triggered a landslide in Khaijar Tok, Paunsari, burying five houses under debris. Of the six residents, five were trapped, while one survived. So far, three bodies have been recovered, while the search for the remaining two continues with the help of NDRF, SDRF, fire services, drones, dog squads, and victim-locating cameras. Essential services have been restored, and relief funds have been distributed to the affected families.
The Chief Minister emphasized that the rehabilitation process would be expedited after a thorough assessment of the damages. He also announced that ₹52 crore has been sanctioned to repair the damaged 132 KV Pitkul substation.
The visit was attended by MLA Suresh Gadhiya, District Panchayat President Shobha Arya, Superintendent of Police Chandrashekhar Ghodke, Divisional Forest Officer Aditya Ratna, Chief Development Officer R.C. Tiwari, Additional District Magistrate N.S. Nabiyal, Sub-District Magistrate Priyanka Rani, along with other administrative officials, local representatives, and villagers.
