CM Stresses on Simplification of Loan Procedures and Insurance Claims; Calls for Increasing CD Ratio

Dehradun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Friday chaired a special meeting of the State Level Bankers’ Committee (SLBC) at the Secretariat. He directed officials to further simplify the processes of providing loans under various central and state schemes so that beneficiaries can avail maximum benefits with ease. He emphasized that resolving public grievances remains the topmost priority of the state government.

The Chief Minister instructed that special focus be laid on simplifying procedures related to insurance claims under agricultural insurance schemes to ensure timely relief to farmers. Stressing the need to enhance the state’s credit-deposit (CD) ratio, he informed that during FY 2024-25, Uttarakhand’s CD ratio has increased from 54% to 54.26%, and concerted efforts must be made to raise it to 60%. He also directed that particular attention be given to improving the CD ratio in the hill districts of Tehri, Pithoragarh, Rudraprayag, Almora, Pauri, and Bageshwar.

To ensure that citizens receive the benefits of various welfare schemes at one place on the same day, the Chief Minister instructed that large-scale camps be organized in all districts during October, where officials from all departments and bankers would jointly resolve issues and provide scheme benefits.

Key highlights from the meeting:

Under Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana, insurance coverage in Uttarakhand stands at 48,000 persons per lakh population, higher than the national average of 40,000.

Under the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana, the average loan disbursed per borrower in the state is ₹93,900, significantly above the national average of ₹62,686.

Over 39 lakh accounts have been opened under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, the highest among hill states.

In FY 2024-25, the state registered a growth of 10.26% in advances and 9.09% in deposits.

Continuous progress noted under Veer Chandra Singh Garhwali and Chief Minister Self-Employment Schemes over the last three years.

6.10 lakh farmers in the state have benefited from the Kisan Credit Card (KCC) facility, out of which 67% are small and marginal farmers.

70.23% of Self-Help Groups (SHGs) in the state have credit linkage, with a 21% rise in SHG numbers over the past three years.

The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan, Additional Chief Secretaries and Secretaries including R.K. Sudhanshu, R. Meenakshi Sundaram, Dilip Jawalkar, Nitesh Kumar Jha, Radhika Jha, Sridhar Babu Adanki, Regional Director RBI Arvind Kumar, Chief General Manager SBI Debashish Mishra, and other senior officials from various banks.
