Strict Ban on Firecracker Sales on Public Roads and Streets in Dehradun
Licenses Only for Designated Open Grounds from Next Year

Dehradun: In compliance with the directions of District Magistrate Savin Basnal, Additional District Magistrate (Administration) Jai Bharat Singh held a meeting with trade association representatives and concerned departmental officials at the Rishiparna Auditorium in the Collectorate on Wednesday. The meeting focused on the issuance of temporary firecracker sale licenses for the upcoming Diwali festival.
After deliberations, it was unanimously decided that starting next year, firecracker sales will be allowed only in designated open grounds, with licenses issued accordingly. Representatives of all trade bodies agreed to the decision and assured their full cooperation.
ADM Jai Bharat Singh urged the Chamber of Commerce and other associations to extend full support in maintaining safety and order. He also instructed officials of the police, fire, and administrative departments to ensure that all licenses comply with prescribed safety standards.
The administration has completely prohibited the sale of firecrackers on public roads, streets, internal routes, and densely populated areas. Shops will also not be permitted in locations inaccessible to fire vehicles. Those selling firecrackers by placing beds or racks on footpaths or roads outside their shops will face strict action.

All public roads, streets, and internal routes remain completely banned for firecracker sales.
Firecracker License Details
The application fee for a firecracker license is ₹850. Applications will be accepted until October 13, 2025, after which no new applications will be entertained.

Shop registry or municipal tax receipt
Licenses will be issued only after verification of all safety standards. Sale of firecrackers directly from warehouses will not be allowed.
Sales for Diwali will be permitted only from October 17 to 21.
The meeting was attended by City Magistrate Pratyush Singh, SDM Sadar Harigiri, SDM Headquarters Apoorva Singh, CO Narendra K. Aswal, Pankaj Mason (President, Doon Valley Metropolitan Trade Board), Vipin Nagliya (Doon Industries Association), Vishal Gupta (Doon Valley Vyapar Mandal), Sunil Mason, Vipin Gupta, and other trade representatives.
