Dehradun: The Jhanda Mela committee, along with thousands of devotees, will organize the annual Nagar Parikrama today. Chief Manager, Shri Guru Ram Rai Ji Maharaj Shri Jhanda Mahotsav-2025, Madhusudan Semwal stated that as per the tradition, the ‘Nagar Parikrama’ is carried out on the third day of the ascension of the holy flagpole.
This year, the Nagar Parikrama will be conducted on Friday under the guidance of Mahant Devendra Das. The procession will commence at 7:30 AM from the Darbar Sahib premises. According to Semwal, over 25,000 devotees are expected to participate in this grand religious journey.
Regarding the route, the Parikrama will pass through Saharanpur Chowk, Kanwali Road and Shri Guru Ram Rai Public School, Bindal, where Prasad will be distributed to the devotees. The procession will then continue through Tilak Road, Tagore Villa, Clock Tower, Paltan Bazaar, Lakkhibagh police station, Ritha Mandi, and finally Bombay Bagh, where another round of Prasad distribution will take place.
The event will conclude at the Darbar Sahib with devotional bhajans, kirtan, and the distribution of Prasad. The entire Parikrama is expected to be completed by 12 noon. Doonites have arranged for a grand welcome and refreshment for the devotees.
