Nomination process begins for three-tier panchayat elections in Dehradun

125 nominations filed on first day

Dehradun, July 2: The nomination process for the three-tier panchayat elections commenced today across all development blocks of Dehradun district. As per information received from the District Election Control Room, a total of 2,385 nomination papers have been sold, while 125 nomination papers were submitted on the first day.

The elections are being held for 4,050 posts, including 3,395 Gram Panchayat members, 409 Pradhans (Gram Panchayat heads), 220 Kshetra Panchayat members, and 26 Zilla Panchayat members.

Breakdown of nomination papers sold across development blocks:

Raipur: 135

Doiwala: 443

Sahaspur: 379

Vikasnagar: 596

Kalsi: 401

Chakrata: 431

On the first day of nominations:

42 nominations were filed for Gram Panchayat members

59 for Pradhan posts

22 for Kshetra Panchayat members

2 for Zilla Panchayat members

Officials expect the pace of nominations to pick up in the coming days. The administration has made elaborate arrangements to ensure a smooth nomination process.
