DEHRADUN: Over 100 People Hospitalized Due to Suspected Adulteration in Buckwheat Flour

Dehradun: A major food poisoning incident, today in Dehradun district has led to the hospitalization of more than 100 people after consuming buckwheat flour suspected to be adulterated. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami visited Coronation Hospital to assess the situation and ensure proper medical care for the affected individuals.

According to preliminary reports, the health crisis emerged due to possible contamination in buckwheat flour supplied from Saharanpur. The Chief Minister interacted with the patients at Coronation Hospital and wished them a speedy recovery. He also instructed District Magistrate Dehradun and Health Department officials to ensure all necessary medical assistance, including increasing hospital bed capacity, if required.

At present, 66 patients are undergoing treatment at Coronation Hospital, while 44 have been admitted to Doon Medical College. Authorities have been directed to make full arrangements for additional patients seeking medical care.

In response to the incident, the shop that received the contaminated buckwheat flour from Saharanpur has been sealed. Other shops linked to the supply chain have been notified and the Dehradun administration has alerted the Saharanpur district administration about the issue.

CM Dhami assured that all possible measures are being taken for patient care. He instructed the Health Secretary to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter and take strict action against those responsible. The Health Department, Food Safety Department and other relevant agencies will collaborate to examine the incident and prevent such occurrences in the future. Strict action will be taken against those found guilty of negligence.

Officials present during the Chief Minister’s visit included Commissioner Garhwal Vinay Shankar Pandey, District Magistrate Dehradun Savin Bansal, SSP Dehradun Ajay Singh, along with representatives from the Health Department and District Administration.
