Dehradun, June 4: District Magistrate Savin Bansal has emphasized that the general public should not face any kind of inconvenience in the birth and death registration process. Chairing the District Level Inter-Departmental Coordination Committee meeting under the Birth-Death Registration Program at the Rishiparna Auditorium on Tuesday, the DM issued strict instructions to streamline the system.
He directed all concerned registration officers to ensure that there is no backlog in the registration of births and deaths. In case of staff shortages, he instructed that immediate requisition for additional manpower be raised.
Focusing on the accuracy and timeliness of death data, the District Magistrate instructed the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) to ensure that the Medical Certification of Cause of Death (MCCD) form is mandatorily filled for every death. Clear directives are to be issued to all government and private hospitals to comply with this requirement.
Further, he emphasized timely communication of birth and death events from private hospitals and ANM sub-centers to the local registrar. For this, it was mandated that each such unit must have an informant ID registered on the Civil Registration System (CRS) portal.
The DM also ordered the compulsory registration of all pending unregistered events on the CRS portal. Departments and institutions showing poor performance over the past two months will face action under the provisions of the RBD Act, including penalties.
Public-Friendly Measures Announced:
A permanent list displaying the names, addresses, and mobile numbers of local registrars in each development block will be put up on notice boards and the NIC website.
All private hospitals must prominently display the contact details of the local registrar within their premises.
The meeting was attended by Chief Development Officer Abhinav Shah, Deputy District Magistrate Harigiri, Chief Medical Officer Dr. Manoj Kumar, Dr. Narendra Kumar, and officials from other concerned departments.
