Administration Prioritizes Continuous Supply of Clean Drinking Water
Dehradun, 17 May: The Dehradun district administration is actively addressing the challenges of clean and uninterrupted drinking water supply during the summer season. Under the Chief Minister’s Janseva Sankalp, a dedicated control room was established on April 20 as per the directives of District Magistrate Savin Bansal. The control room is staffed round-the-clock by officers from seven departments associated with water supply.
To date, the control room has received 62 complaints through various channels. Of these, 54 have been successfully resolved, while work is ongoing on the remaining 8. The District Magistrate has instructed officials to expedite the resolution of pending issues to ensure smooth water supply across all areas.
Area-Wise Updates and Solutions:
In localities such as Chaman Vihar, Ashirwad Enclave, Engineers Enclave, Vyomprastha, and GMS Road, water tankers have been deployed as an interim measure during supply disruptions.
In Engineers Enclave, pipeline damage caused by UPCL and GAIL Gas digging was promptly repaired, restoring supply.
Subhash Nagar faced a disruption on May 13 due to a tube well motor failure. Smart City authorities replaced the motor, restoring supply by May 16.
In Indirapuram, a damaged water line was fixed on May 14, with supply resuming the following day.
A major leak due to a damaged 8-inch pipeline on Haridwar Bypass Road was repaired immediately after detection.
Community Engagement and Monitoring:
Prompt action was taken on complaints from Gokuldham residents Pooja Rawat and Mahendra Rawat, with the issue resolved on the same day. The District Magistrate has also instructed departments to ensure uninterrupted power supply to tube wells and to maintain consistent monitoring.
To streamline complaint redressal, toll-free helplines for Jal Sansthan and Jal Nigam are now active. Citizens can report water supply issues by calling 0135-2726066 or 1077.
