UTTARAKHAND/NEW DELHI: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami paid tribute to former Prime Minister and Bharat Ratna, late Atal Bihari Vajpayee on his birth anniversary by paying tribute to his picture at Uttarakhand Niwas, New Delhi.
CM Dhami said in his message that late Atal Bihari Vajpayee was a great orator along with being a skilled administrator, politician and popular public leader, who was respected by people from all sections of the society. National interest was paramount for late Vajpayee. He has been the pioneer of the state of Uttarakhand, he not only created the state of Uttarakhand but also laid the foundation for state development.
The Chief Minister said that under the leadership of late Atal Bihari Vajpayee, India created its new identity in the world and moved forward strongly in the 21st century. He had an amazing ability to take everyone along. He will always be remembered for his far-sighted thinking, creations, Pokhran nuclear test, India’s victory in the Kargil war.
Statue unveiled on the occasion of birth centenary
On the occasion of the birth centenary of former Prime Minister Bharat Ratna Late Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Himachal Pradesh Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla and Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami unveiled the statue of late Atal Bihari Vajpayee at Lekhak Village in Thano. On this occasion, he inaugurated the Nalanda Library and Research Center in Lekhak Village and installed a 72 feet high national flag pole.
Himachal Pradesh Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla said that the unveiling of Atal’s statue in Lekhak Village on the occasion of the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Late Atal Bihari Vajpayee and organizing a lecture series based on his memory is a commendable initiative. Such an event will help future generations learn a lot about his contribution to the country in various fields. He said that Atal was a man of great personality. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is taking forward the work started by him in the national interest. Atal was the first Prime Minister to deliver a speech in Hindi at the United Nations. He expressed hope that the lecture series based in the memory of Atal in the Lekhak Village would give people an opportunity to know many aspects of his life.

He said that as a poet, speaker and Prime Minister of the country, Atal’s works, thoughts and vision always worked to give a new direction to the country. He was always dedicated to ensuring equality and social harmony in the country. When Atal was the Prime Minister of India, the government led by him worked to make our dreams come true by establishing Uttarakhand. It is a matter of pride for all of us that today on Atal’s birth anniversary, his grand statue was unveiled in Lekhak Village. CM Dhami further said that Atal also made significant contributions as a poet, writer and thinker. “Lekhak Village” seems to be a serious effort to carry forward late Atal’s commitment towards patriotism, literary creation and education. Lekhak Village has become a source of inspiration for the practitioners of literature and art due to its calm environment and natural beauty. He thanked former Chief Minister Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ for this. He said that Lekhak Gaon is emerging as a major medium to bring together the echoes of the past, the energy of the present and the possibilities of the future on one platform. Today, the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Memorial Lecture Series is being inaugurated here, which will definitely prove to be an important platform for the exchange of ideas, dialogues and contemplation.
Former Chief Minister and former Union Minister Dr. Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank said that former Prime Minister Late Atal Bihari Vajpayee is the source of inspiration for the concept of Writer’s Village. He had a special affection towards literature and litterateurs. He thought that works should be done in the interest of people associated with the literary field.
Padma Bhushan Rajat Sharma, on this occasion, narrated many memoirs related to his life in the lecture series based on Atal Bihari Vajpayee Smriti.
On this occasion, Chief Executive Officer Flag Foundation of India Major General Ashim Kohli (Retd.), Director Sparsh Himalaya Foundation Vidushi Nishank, litterateurs Dr. Arun Sharma, Dr. Savita Mohan and other people associated with literature were present.
