DM Holds High-Level Meeting to Strengthen Civil-Security Coordination in Dehradun

City Prepared for Emergency Response Measures

Dehradun: Amid rising tensions between India and Pakistan, a high-level coordination meeting was convened on Saturday by District Magistrate Savin Bansal in Dehradun. The meeting included officials from the district administration, civil departments, security agencies, and other stakeholders. The primary objective was to bolster preparedness, ensure uninterrupted essential services, and curb the spread of misinformation.

During the meeting, Bansal emphasized the importance of seamless coordination between civil and security agencies. He directed that prior intimation of all mock drills must be shared with the administration to prevent unnecessary panic among citizens. Agencies were also instructed to closely monitor and counteract the spread of misleading or malicious information, with the deployment of civil defense volunteers as an added measure.

Emergency Infrastructure Upgrades

The DM announced the installation of modern long-range emergency sirens in the district. These sirens will have a range of 16 km and 8 km respectively, with the budget already sanctioned and implementation underway. Additionally, Dehradun will soon be equipped with Rapid Communication Systems at key military, paramilitary, and critical infrastructure locations. These systems aim to enable swift communication during emergencies.

Key Directives Issued

The Superintending Engineer of UPCL was instructed not to carry out any power shutdowns without administrative approval.

The Water Institute and Chief Fire Officer were directed to submit a comprehensive report on the functionality of all fire hydrants within three days.

The city will be divided into sectors, with officers deployed in each to ensure accurate and timely information dissemination.

Incident Response System (IRS) and Quick Response Teams (QRTs) will remain on active standby for emergency relief and rescue operations.

Crackdown on Black Marketing

To prevent hoarding and black marketing, the DM directed the District Supply Officer (DSO) to take immediate legal action against violators. Suspicious warehouses will be inspected, and stockpiles of essential commodities may be seized. Routine inspections will ensure the continuous and fair supply of essential goods.

Public Advisory

Bansal reassured the public that the preparations are purely precautionary. “There is no cause for panic. The administration and security forces are on high alert, and all essential services will function without interruption,” he stated. He also urged citizens to stay vigilant, avoid spreading rumors, and verify information before sharing it.

The meeting was attended by Senior Superintendent of Police Ajai Singh, Chief Development Officer Abhinav Shah, Additional District Magistrates KK Mishra and Jai Bharat, SDMs Pratyush and Kumkum Joshi, CMO Dr. Mukesh Kumar, and senior officers from the Army, ITBP, CISF, CRPF, BSF, NDRF, SDRF, and other key departments.
