Dehradun: District Magistrate Savin Bansal convened the weekly Janata Darshan at the Collectorate on Monday, where 174 citizens from across the district presented their grievances. A majority of the complaints were addressed immediately, while others were directed to be resolved by concerned departments within a stipulated timeframe.
A significant number of complaints pertained to land disputes and unauthorized encroachments, prompting the DM to order a stringent crackdown on the land mafia. He directed Revenue and Police officials to initiate decisive and time-bound action against unlawful land occupation.
During the hearing, Pushpa Devi from Nathanpur alleged physical assault and illegal possession of her ancestral property. The DM instructed the Tehsildar and SHO of Nehru Colony to enforce previous orders and ensure restoration of rightful ownership without delay.
In another major case, Satpal Singh from Doiwala reported land usurpation by a local mafia. The DM referred the case to the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), urging speedy legal resolution in the court of ACJ-III. Similarly, a woman from Jhajhra complained about four shops, originally owned by her late husband, now under unauthorized occupation by non-paying tenants. She was provided legal support via DLSA to initiate a civil suit.
Among other cases, a senior citizen from Nemi Road made an emotional appeal for her daughter’s higher education. The DM promptly facilitated her admission to a reputed institution under the Nanda-Sunanda Yojana, earning deep appreciation from the family.
A decade-old complaint by VD Naithani of Banjarawala concerning drinking water shortage was resolved on the spot, with the Jal Sansthan assuring immediate action. Keshar from Nalapani, seeking financial assistance for self-employment, was directed to the District Programme Officer for necessary support.
In another instance, 83-year-old Savitri Devi had allegedly been denied court-ordered maintenance of ₹10,000 by her daughter-in-law. The DM instructed the SDM to ensure compliance and submit a follow-up report.
Villagers from Buraila Jagdhan demanded a motorable road between Dhanav Chhani and Patangana Chhani. The DM directed the Public Works Department (PWD) to conduct a site inspection and initiate construction. Similarly, in Munda village of Chakrata block, a long-pending issue regarding a non-constructed canal was taken up for inspection by the SDM.
Action was also ordered on the demolition of a decade-old dilapidated structure in Khudbuda. Additionally, the PWD was tasked with resolving rainwater-induced erosion along the Langha-Malogi road by cleaning drainage paths and implementing protective measures.
The DM also addressed sensitive cases of domestic violence and elder abuse, ensuring timely intervention. Other issues raised included non-payment of salaries by BSNL, unauthorized road construction, caste certificate delays, poor drainage, school fee waivers, infrastructure demands and safety concerns.
The DM emphasized the importance of swift grievance redressal and instructed all officials to ensure justice and relief for the affected individuals.
