Dehradun: A major scam has surfaced in the rehabilitation land allotted to Tehri Dam displaced families. Acting on a complaint by Pulma Devi during a Janta Darshan, District Magistrate Savin Bansal ordered an inquiry that revealed shocking irregularities.
Despite selling his land in 2007, an individual got the same plot re-registered in his name in 2019 by misleading officials of the Rehabilitation Department. The probe found that engineers and officials of the Infrastructure Rehabilitation Section Rishikesh executed this without due verification.
Taking stern action, the DM ordered the seizure of the Superintending Engineer’s vehicle and summoned him with complete records, warning that the matter could be handed over to an SIT. The criminal investigation has been assigned to SDM Headquarters Apoorva.
DM Bansal asserted, “Until Pulma Devi gets justice, this case will not be closed.” The administration’s tough stance is seen as a precursor to wider action on similar frauds in the rehabilitation project.
