DEHRADUN: In response to a recent protest by the Rishikesh Taxi Maxi Federation over the sudden hike in parking charges, the Jolly Grant Airport administration has extended the free parking duration from 11 minutes to 13 minutes.
Taxi and maxi cab owners, under the banner of the Rishikesh Taxi Maxi Mahasangh, had staged a sit-in protest at the airport toll barrier. They expressed strong opposition to the revised parking fees and demanded an immediate rollback of the increased charges.
Taking note of the protest and the concerns raised by the drivers and transport operators, the airport authorities have revised the policy, offering two additional minutes of free parking to ease the situation.
The move is seen as a small but significant step toward addressing the grievances of local transport operators who play a vital role in airport connectivity.
