Roorkee, Uttarakhand: A high-level German delegation from Frankfurt held discussions with officials and academicians in Uttarakhand on Wednesday to explore new avenues of technology cooperation and investment. The meeting, organized at IIT Roorkee, focused on engineering, renewable energy, emerging technologies, and innovation-driven enterprises.
The Uttarakhand delegation was led by Prof. Kamal Kishore Pant, Director, IIT Roorkee, along with representatives from the state government. Prof. Pant highlighted the vision of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, noting that following the success of the Global Investors Summit, Uttarakhand continues to explore strategic collaborations to position itself as a prime investment destination.
Prof. Pant also emphasized the state’s potential in semiconductors, space science, data science, and artificial intelligence (AI). He underlined that Indo-German partnerships in these areas would not only foster innovation but also create significant local employment opportunities, helping to curb migration from hill districts. The discussions further touched on joint initiatives in sustainability, women empowerment, and disaster early warning systems, reflecting common priorities of both regions.
On behalf of Germany, Stefan Wittekind, CEO of Rhine Main Innovation Hub, expressed enthusiasm about partnering with Indian startups and mid-sized enterprises. He noted that Frankfurt is keen to act as a gateway for Indian companies aiming to expand into European markets. Stressing Germany’s global leadership in engineering, electronics, green energy, and digital skills, he assured strong support for collaborative ventures with Indian institutions and businesses.
Both sides expressed optimism that stronger ties between Uttarakhand and Frankfurt will open new doors for innovation, technology transfer, and investment, thereby deepening India-Germany cooperation in strategic sectors.
