Graduate level course to begin soon at Maharana Pratap Sports College: CM Dhami

CM presented cheques of Rs 50 lakh each to 4 players of Uttarakhand participated in Paris Olympics 2024.

 

Dehradun. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami wished everyone a Happy Sports Day in a program organized on the occasion of National Sports Day at the Multipurpose Sports Building, Parade Ground Dehradun and paid tribute to the magician of hockey by garlanding his picture. On this occasion, the Chief Minister presented cheques of Rs 50 lakh each to 4 players of Uttarakhand (Lakshya Sen, Paramjit Singh, Suraj Panwar, Ankita Dhyani) participated in Paris Olympics 2024.

The Chief Minister also inaugurated the website of the 38th National Games to be held in Uttarakhand on this occasion. In the program, UKSRS portal has also been launched with the aim of enabling the players of the state to register themselves and record their achievements at one place. He distributed scholarships worth Rs. 58.50 lakhs through DBT to 3900 (1950 boys and 1950 girls) players of Udyaman Khiladi Unnayan Yojana. The Chief Minister also distributed prize money worth Rs. 7 crore 4 lakhs through DBT to 269 national, 58 international players and 65 coaches, thus a total of 392 people.

The Chief Minister announced during this time that graduate classes related to sports activities will also be started for the students of Maharana Pratap Sports College, Dehradun. Which will be linked with the under-construction Sports University. Out of the 2600 players selected under the Chief Minister’s Incentive Scheme, 10 percent of the players will be selected on the basis of their performance and arrangements will be made to provide them special training. Like the Target Olympic Podium Scheme run by the Sports Ministry of the Government of India, the Target International Podium Scheme will also be run by the state government. This will help the players of Uttarakhand state in earning medals at the international level.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that the contribution of Major Dhyan Chand in the field of sports is inspiring. He also congratulated the players who won medals in the Paris Olympics and all the players who are going to participate in the Paralympics. He said that the players of Uttarakhand who have made the journey to the Paris Olympics, this is just the beginning for these players. He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, innovative efforts are being made at every level to encourage sports and players across the country. The Prime Minister constantly communicates with them to encourage every player of the country. A strong foundation has been prepared for sports in the country under the leadership of the Prime Minister. The Chief Minister said that the state government is constantly working to take the state forward in the field of sports. A new sports policy has been implemented with the aim of encouraging sports and players. Promotion of out of turn government jobs to players who win medals at the national and international level has been started. Under this, 31 players have been given appointment in government departments. The state government has also passed a bill to set up a sports university in the state. With the establishment of a sports university in the state, our players will get world class training, facilities and opportunities.

The Chief Minister said that the state government has established the Chief Minister Sports Development Fund. In which the pre-determined amount has been increased by 100 percent. Scholarships are being provided continuously to promote players. The amount given to buy sports kits for players participating at the national level has been increased from 3 thousand to 5 thousand. Incentives are also being given to players performing excellently in the state. Uttarakhand Khel Ratna Award and Himalaya Khel Ratna Award are also being given in the state. The state government has re-implemented the sports quota. Along with the encouragement of players, sports facilities are also being strengthened.

He said that various sports grounds present in the state are being developed as national level grounds. It is a matter of joy for the state that the state is getting the opportunity to host the 38th National Games. Hosting the National Games is a big opportunity for the state.

Sports Minister Rekha Arya, while wishing National Sports Day, said that this day is dedicated to the great player Major Dhyan Chand ji. He faced challenges in earlier times and brought glory to the country all over the world. Today parents are also taking their children forward in the field of sports. When the peak of hard work and passion is crossed, the results are seen in magic. She said that the title of player is not easy. The player makes the impossible possible. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Dhami, the state government is running historic schemes in the field of sports.

 

The Sports Minister said that under the Chief Minister’s Udyaman Khiladi Unnayan Yojana, financial assistance is being provided for the selection of players and resources for them. A provision of 4 percent reservation has been made for the players in the state. The government is making arrangements for a sports development fund. Soon the sports material will also be distributed. The state of Uttarakhand has got the hosting of the 38th National Games, for which all the preparations are almost completed.

 

On this occasion, MLA Khajan Das, Special Principal Secretary Sports Amit Sinha, Director Sports Jitendra Sonkar and representatives from the sports world were present.
