Historical Jhanda Mela Dehradun: Begins on 30 March, 2024

Dehradun: The historical Jhandha Fair Dehradun has almost been started. Every year the Jhanda Fair is held at the Darbar Sahib Dehradun on 5th day after Holi. The fair begins with putting up a new Jhanda (flag) at Darbar Sahib Compound. This year the fair begins on 30 March and concludes on 17 April, on the day of Ramnavmi. The Darbar Sahib is being decorated with flowers and lights. The markets have also been decorated. There is great enthusiasm among the people.

Sangat (devotees) from various parts of the country especially from Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and  other states started reaching Darbar Sahib. Mela Organizing Committee has estimated that lakhs of devotees will be reaching to be blessed by the Jhanda ji this year.

The members of the Organizing Committee had a meeting with the officers of the police and administration. The meeting organized at the office of Superintendent of Police. The SP City, CO-City, CO-Traffic, Inspector, Kotwali had a detailed meeting with the Committee on the preparations of the Mela.

Deputy Manager of the Mela Organizing Committee, Vijay Gulati stated that 42 CCTVs have been installed in the Mela premises. He said that a team of doctors and nursing staff of Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital will also be on duty at the Mela Hospital. Free medicines will also be distributed by the team of Shri Mahant Indiresh hospital. Two ambulances will also be present at the mela premises to handle any medical emergencies. 25 fire extinguishers have also been installed, he further said.
