International Women’s Day is observed on 8th March every year. It reflects on the progress and nurturing empowerment of women. This day stands for global acknowledgement of women’s achievements and their active participation in all the important spheres across the globe. Besides handling household chores, the woman of 21st century is playing equally important role in the development of a nation as men.

Five letters word ‘WOMEN’ represents the half globe. Woman, Nari is called Shakti, Nature and Creation in my nation. One should not take it for granted. when we talk about women, we should not forget that we are talking about half of the world’s population, which contributes more than its ration to the world.

This day also serves as a platform to raise awareness about gender equality and to celebrate strides, which have been taken towards gender equality. In fact, it shouldn’t be one day task, instead, it’s an ongoing journey towards empowerment and equality. We cannot afford to ignore the challenges which still persist on the way.

If we have a look into the flashback, we come to know that International Women’s Day has its roots in the early labour movement and women’s right activism. The day emerged as a response to the oppressive working conditions and demands for suffrage in the early 20th century. Over the years, it has evolved into a day of celebrating women’s achievements, advocating the gender equality and of course, recognizing the indispensable role, what they play in the society.

The day involves recognizing the importance of inclusive education as a catalyst for positive change. Education stands as a cornerstone for women’s empowerment. Investing in girls’ education not only transforms individual lives but also uplifts entire communities. Empowering women economically is crucial for fostering independence and dismantling gender-based inequalities. Recognizing and supporting women in their professional pursuits is integral to set broader narrative.

Women’s Day provides an opportunity to reflect on the progress made in various domains. Advancement in education, healthcare and workplaces demonstrate the resilience and competence of women worldwide. More women are breaking barriers in traditionally male-dominated fields and contributing to the advancement of society in multifaceted ways.

However, acknowledging the advancements made, it is equally important to recognize to persistent challenges. It is need of the hour to work collectively to create a world, where all women have equal rights and opportunities to thrive.
