Dehradun, April 22 – In a significant stride towards fulfilling Chief Minister’s vision of “Sanskriti Parampara Samvardhan”, the Dehradun district administration has launched the ambitious Kuthalgate Project. Spearheaded by District Magistrate Savin Bansal, the initiative brings together cultural revival, road safety, and beautification in a comprehensive development model.
As part of the project, a newly constructed motorable slip road has been developed at Kuthalgate to ease traffic congestion and reduce the risk of accidents. The area is also being redesigned in line with traditional Himalayan architectural styles to reflect the region’s cultural essence and serve as a new symbol of Dehradun’s identity.
To ensure timely completion, the District Magistrate has directed officials and contractors to double manpower, materials, and machinery on-site. The target is to wrap up all construction activities before the onset of the monsoon season.
But the project goes beyond infrastructure. It incorporates the modernization of other key junctions in the region while prioritizing traffic flow, public safety, and preservation of folk traditions. Two additional motorable slip roads have already been completed, expected to significantly alleviate traffic congestion in the area.
DM Bansal is personally overseeing the project’s execution. He has conducted multiple on-site inspections and is holding regular review meetings to ensure both quality and progress remain on track.
Once completed, the Kuthalgate Project will offer residents and tourists alike a seamless travel experience, enhanced safety, and an immersive introduction to Uttarakhand’s rich cultural heritage — all in one place. This initiative is poised to become a landmark development, enriching both the urban landscape and the cultural fabric of Dehradun.
