Second Lunar Eclipse of 2025 to Occur on 7 September
Dehradun: The second eclipse of the year 2025 is set to take place on Sunday, 7 September. This lunar eclipse will begin at 9:57 PM and continue until 1:26 AM (midnight). The celestial event has already sparked curiosity among astronomy enthusiasts and devotees alike.
According to astrologer Pandit K. P. Chamoli Purohit, the Sutak period (the inauspicious phase observed before an eclipse) will begin at 12:30 PM on the same day, nearly nine hours prior to the start of the eclipse. During the Sutak and eclipse periods, temple doors will remain closed, and religious or auspicious activities, including cooking and eating, are generally avoided as per traditional beliefs.
Interestingly, Purnima Shraddha (ancestral offering on the full moon) also falls on 7 September this year, adding further religious significance to the day. From a spiritual and astrological perspective, this rare coincidence is considered highly important.
Astrologers suggest that the impact of the lunar eclipse varies for individuals depending on their zodiac signs, birth stars, and planetary positions. Chanting mantras, meditation, charitable acts, and remembering the divine during the eclipse period are believed to bring special merit and positive energy.
