Dehradun. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, speaking at a book release function at the Chief Minister’s residence on Wednesday, said that the state’s new tourism policy is aimed at establishing “Destination Uttarakhand” prominently on the global tourism map. He highlighted that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the state government is consistently striving to promote tourism across Uttarakhand.
The Chief Minister described Uttarakhand as a unique confluence of natural beauty, cultural heritage, and spiritual energy. He noted that the new tourism policy has created an investor-friendly environment, which is attracting interest from across the country and abroad.
Spiritual and Adventure Tourism on Priority
CM Dhami informed that two grand spiritual corridors are being developed in the state. The Manaskhand Corridor is being constructed on the lines of the famous Kedarkhand. At the same time, planned efforts are underway to promote Rishikesh and Haridwar as global hubs of yoga and spirituality.
He also mentioned that a “Winter Yatra” has been started from this year to boost off-season tourism, which was specially encouraged by Prime Minister Modi’s recent visit to Harshil-Mukhba. Additionally, the state is vigorously promoting adventure activities such as trekking, river rafting, paragliding, skiing and mountaineering.
Most Film-Friendly State
The Chief Minister said that Uttarakhand has implemented a single-window clearance system to facilitate film shooting and is also offering special subsidies and facilities for filmmakers. As a result, Uttarakhand was recently honored with the “Most Film Friendly State” award at the National Film Awards.
Recognition for Villages
Highlighting recent achievements, CM Dhami said that four villages of Uttarakhand—Jakhol, Harshil, Gunji and Soupi—have been recognized with the “Best Tourism Village Award” by the Union Ministry of Tourism.
