The government announced on Tuesday, March 28 that resident of state won’t need to get themselves registered. Also, offline registration would be made available for pilgrims coming from outside state. A day before priests, hoteliers and transporters met Uttarakhand chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami in this regard to express their concern over the mandatory registration of Char Dham pilgrims.
CM Dhami said, after a top-level meeting on Tuesday, with offline registration facilities, those coming from other states would not be denied ‘darshan’ if for some reason they are unable to register themselves online.
Chief secretary SS Sandhu, additional chief secretary Radha Raturi, DGP Ashok Kumar and senior state and police officials were part of the meeting. Dhami directed the police and other authorities concerned to ensure pilgrims are not stopped at different locations for gathering information but only at one point in the route.
The CM asked the authorities to complete all the preparations for the Char Dham yatra, set to begin on April 22 with the opening of Gangotri and Yamunotri shrines by April 15.
The CM directed that crash barriers be set up along the yatra routes, and that proper arrangements be made at parking slots for drivers to stay and sleep. Dhami reiterated that health camps would need to set up with doctors available at regular intervals for pilgrims.
