Dehradun. The festival Raksha Bandhan of brother and sister is celebrated on the full moon day of Shravan month Shukla Paksha. On this day, the sister ties a rakhi on her brother’s wrist and wishes for her brother’s happiness, prosperity and long life. In return, the brother promises to protect the sister and gives gifts and shagun. While tying the rakhi, the brother should be seated in such a way that the brother’s face is towards the east or north.
According to Pandit Kamleshwar Prasad Chamoli, Acharya, this time the festival of Raksha Bandhan will be celebrated on Monday, 19 August 2024. This Monday will also be the last Monday of Sawan. Monday is the full moon of Shravan month. Therefore, Raksha Bandhan festival will be celebrated on Monday.
According to Acharya, the auspicious time to tie Rakhi is after 1:29 pm and till 8:30 pm. Sisters can tie Rakhi to their brothers in the auspicious time. Bhadra will be there from 5:30 in the morning till 1:29 in the afternoon. Tying Rakhi on brother’s wrist in Bhadra is considered inauspicious.
