Special Grant Sought from NITI Aayog for Growing Tourist Influx
Dehradun. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has said that with the upcoming commencement of the Delhi-Dehradun Elevated Road, Uttarakhand is set to witness a significant rise in tourist footfall. In anticipation, the state government has proactively begun work on future planning to address emerging challenges.
Highlighting the need to tackle traffic congestion and prepare for the city’s evolving infrastructure demands, the Chief Minister informed that the state government has placed a proposal before the Central Government for the construction of a 26 km Rispana-Bindal Elevated Road in Dehradun. Additionally, recognizing the surge in tourists and floating population, a special grant has been sought from NITI Aayog to develop essential facilities.
Chief Minister Dhami underlined that Uttarakhand is consistently advancing towards excellence across various domains. He pointed out that:
Uttarakhand recently secured first position in the SDG Index among states,
Became the first state in India to implement the Gross Environmental Product (GEP) framework, and
Emerged as the first courageous state to implement the Uniform Civil Code (UCC).
He also shared that over 6,500 acres of encroached land have been reclaimed, showcasing the state’s commitment to sustainable development. Innovative approaches continue to drive Uttarakhand’s growth trajectory.
The Chief Minister made these remarks while releasing the coffee table book ‘Aerial Vistas of Uttarakhand’, a pictorial showcase by renowned photographer Bhumesh Bharti.
Touching upon the state’s robust fiscal discipline, the Chief Minister stated that Uttarakhand now ranks second among small states in financial management, expressing confidence that the state will further strengthen its leadership across sectors in the times ahead.
