Rest Houses to be Built for Attendants at Govt Medical Colleges in Dehradun & Haldwani, MoU Signed

Dehradun: A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on Wednesday in the presence of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami between Government Doon Medical College, Government Medical College Haldwani, and Sevadan Arogya Sanstha for the construction of rest houses (night shelters) for attendants of patients.

Under the agreement, modern rest houses with a total capacity of 350 beds will be developed on the campuses of both medical colleges. These facilities aim to support attendants of admitted patients, especially those lacking accommodation options.

The Chief Minister said the state government is committed to making healthcare services more humane and accessible. He termed the initiative as a major relief for patient relatives and urged the implementation of a similar facility at AIIMS Satellite Center in Kichha, which Sevadan Arogya Sanstha agreed to.

Key Features of the Rest Houses:

Dormitory bed: ₹55 per night

Two-bed room: ₹300 per night

Breakfast at ₹20, meals at ₹35

Operated and maintained by Sevadan Arogya Sanstha

1,750 sq. m. land allocated in Dehradun, 1,400 sq. m. in Haldwani

MoU valid for 20 years

Health Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat, Health Secretary Dr. R. Rajesh Kumar, Secretary Vinay Shankar Pandey, Director Medical Education Dr. Ashutosh Sayana, and representatives from Sevadan Arogya Sanstha — Abhishek Saxena, Anand Singh Bisen, and Amit Das — were present at the signing ceremony.
