Tragedy in Rudraprayag: Tempo Traveller Plunges into Alaknanda River; 2 Dead 10 Missing, 8 Injured

Rudraprayag: A pilgrimage to Badrinath Dham turned tragic on Thursday morning when a Tempo Traveller (registration number UK 08 PA 7444) lost control near Gholtir and plunged into the Alaknanda River.

According to initial reports, the vehicle was carrying 20 passengers from Gujarat and Rajasthan. Two fatalities have been confirmed, while 10 individuals are still missing. Eight others sustained serious injuries and have been admitted to the Rudraprayag District Hospital for treatment.

Rescue operations are underway on a war footing, with teams from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and local police deployed at the scene. Divers have been pressed into service to aid in the search for the missing passengers in the river.

The district administration has launched an official inquiry into the incident. Efforts are being made to contact the families of the victims and provide necessary support.
