Dehradun: In a significant development aimed at enhancing road connectivity and traffic safety in Uttarakhand, the Central Government has sanctioned a project worth ₹720.67 crore for the improvement of key sections of National Highway-7 and National Highway-34 in Dehradun district.
The project involves the upgradation of a total 36.82 km stretch, covering the Dehradun–Laltapar–Nepali Farm section of NH-7 and the Nepali Farm–Motichur section of NH-34. Once completed, the project will ensure smoother, faster, and safer vehicular movement, particularly easing travel between important religious and tourist destinations such as Dehradun, Haridwar, and Rishikesh. It is also expected to enhance the overall experience of pilgrims undertaking the Chardham Yatra.
Expressing his appreciation, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari for their continued commitment to Uttarakhand’s infrastructure development.
“This project will play a crucial role in transforming the state’s infrastructure landscape and advancing our efforts in road safety,” the Chief Minister stated.
He further informed that the project includes grade separation at major intersections, ensuring local traffic is efficiently diverted from main highway routes. This is expected to significantly reduce traffic congestion and accidents, while also improving traffic flow management. Additionally, service roads will be constructed to facilitate better movement of local vehicles.
CM Dhami highlighted that under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, Uttarakhand is witnessing rapid infrastructure progress. “This project is yet another vital milestone in that journey,” he added.
