DEHRADUN: Continuous heavy rainfall in Uttarakhand has severely disrupted normal life. Several districts are witnessing landslides, damaged roads, and debris blocking highways. The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for the three days. In view of the worsening weather conditions, the state administration has taken a major safety-driven decision.
Char Dham and Hemkund Sahib Yatra Temporarily Halted
Garhwal Commissioner Vinay Shankar Pandey announced that due to adverse weather and frequent landslides, several routes have become unsafe. To ensure the safety of pilgrims, the Char Dham Yatra (Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath) and Hemkund Sahib Yatra have been suspended until 5 September.
Additionally, all vehicular movement towards Kedarnath has been completely restricted. The administration is working around the clock to clear debris and restore blocked routes.
Pilgrimage to Resume Only After Weather Improves
Commissioner Pandey clarified that the yatra will only resume once the weather conditions stabilize and the routes are declared completely safe for travel. Until then, devotees are urged to remain patient and avoid starting their journey under any circumstances.
Special Advisory for Pilgrims
Do not begin travel until official clearance is issued.
Stay connected with the administrative control room for real-time updates.
Follow all safety instructions issued by the local administration.
The state and district administrations are actively monitoring roads, removing debris, and prioritizing pilgrim safety above everything else.
