UTTARAKHAND: CM Dhami Pays Tribute to Ahilyabai Holkar on 300th Birth Anniversary, Announces Renaming of Salempur Village

HaridwarChief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Sunday paid rich tributes to Lokmata Ahilyabai Holkar during her 300th birth anniversary celebration organized by the Dhangar Samaj in Haridwar. On the occasion, he announced that Gram Sabha Salempur will be renamed after Lokmata Ahilyabai Holkar, subject to the completion of official proposal and no-objection formalities.

Praising Ahilyabai Holkar as a beacon of women empowerment and cultural revival, the Chief Minister said, “Her historic contributions — including the renovation of temples like Kashi Vishwanath, Somnath, Dwarka, Ayodhya, Badrinath, and Kedarnath — will always be remembered as milestones in India’s Sanatan heritage.”

He lauded the Pal-Dhangar community for being a vital part of India’s livestock economy and for preserving the country’s cultural identity through generations. He added that their efforts align with the vision of a self-reliant India.

CM Dhami credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership for initiating a nationwide cultural awakening through projects like the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, Kedarnath-Badrinath Dham revival, Baba Vishwanath Corridor and Mahakal Lok. Highlighting major strides in women-centric governance, CM Dhami cited schemes such as 33% reservation for women in Parliament and Assemblies, Ujjwala Yojana, Lakhpati Didi Yojana, Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao, and the abolition of triple talaq. In Uttarakhand, initiatives like 30% reservation in state government jobs for women, Mukhyamantri Nari Sashaktikaran Yojana, Mahalakshmi Yojana, Vatsalya Yojana, and Anchal Amrit Yojana are empowering women at the grassroots level.

The Chief Minister also underlined the ongoing development projects in the state, including beautification of Kedarkhand and Manaskhand temple circuits, revival of Yamunatirtha in Haripur Kalsi, and development of Haridwar-Rishikesh and Sharda Corridors.

CM Dhami reaffirmed India’s strong national security posture, citing surgical strikes, air strikes and the recent Operation Sindoor as examples of the country’s decisive and clear policy on terrorism.

The event was attended by Disaster Management Vice President Vinay Kumar Rohila, Minister of State Dr. Jaipal Singh Chauhan, MLAs Deshraj Karnawal, Omprakash Jamdagni, Adesh Chauhan, and several senior officials including District Magistrate Mayur Dixit, SP Pramod Singh Doval, HRDA Secretary Manish Kumar, and other local dignitaries and community representatives.
